Recreational fishing in the Sustainable Development Reserve of Barra do Una (RDSBU) is mainly aimed at snooks. This work aimed to carry out an ethno-biological survey with recreational fishermen on the nomenclature, habitat, diet and seasonality of snooks in the RDSBU (Peruíbe/SP). The results showed that the recreational fishermen who attend the RDSBU have a detailed knowledge about ecological and environmental aspects related to this species. They indicated several food items in the snooks diet e mphasizing shrimp and fish, as already indicated in the literature. Fishermen also stated that snooks occupy both saline and sweet environments, corroborating research that indicates the flexibility of these organisms in terms of the physical parameters of the water. Fishermen are interested in the conservation and monitoring of the species and the environment, despite the ignorance of the current laws. The ordering of the activity must include community development and fishing tourism in a sustainable manner.
