There are more than 400 species of edible mushrooms in Mexico, knowledge about their uses and properties is not widespread; residents of regions near forests use them more than those in urban areas. With the goal of disseminating information on fungi of nutritional importance in the country, this study presents information on the names, distribution, description, and other ethnobiological data of a wild mushroom, known as the Corneta mushroom. It is concluded that this species is highly valued in central states, such as Tlaxcala, and its consumption requires recommendations regarding its preparation; it is a safe mushroom and beneficial to health due to its properties.
