Aprovechamiento de Recursos Vegetales en una Localidad de la Reserva de la Biosfera Mariposa Monarca, Michoacán, México
Abstract
The management of plant resources by local people in the buffering zone and the relationship with the Reserva is described. 199 species were registered and grouped in 153 Genera and 68 Families. 44% of species are represented in the 8 most abundant Families: Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Fagaceae, Rosaceae, Solanaceae, Fabaceae, Apiaceae and Brassicaceae. The uses in decreasing order of importance were medicine (with 139 species), forage (117), food (47), ornamental (30), combustible (21), industrial (6) handicrafts (6) and building (5). 90 diseases are controlled with medicinal plants, being digestive diseases the most frequent and the respiratory diseases then; the most useful parts are leaves and the most common way of preparation are teas, mostly mixture preparations. From the edible species the most frequently used parts are steamed leaves. The material is obtained in decreasing order by collection, buying, home gardens and from agrosystem; they collect more at the buffering zone and less at the nucleus. The most locally exploited species in the place are 19 as extensive use (combustible, building, home tools elaboration and coal production). Other productive activities and finally the sustainability program limitations are also mentioned.
